PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for cleaning an ink-jet head which enable the recovery of the discharging performance of an ink and excellent application inhibiting the occurrence of nozzle omission, and a mechanism and an apparatus. SOLUTION: The ink-jet head cleaning method comprises steps of covering the washing area of the ink-jet head 1 with a washing tank 24, injecting a washing fluid into the washing area from a washing fluid injection nozzle 21 in the washing tank and injecting air into the washing area from an air injection nozzle 22 in the washing tank. The ink-jet head cleaning mechanism is equipped with the washing tank covering the washing area of the ink-jet head, a washing part opening and closing means 3 for making the washing tank contact or not contact with the ink-jet head, the washing injection nozzle for injecting the washing fluid into the washing area, the air injection nozzle for injecting air into the washing area, a washing fluid feeding means for feeding the washing fluid to the washing fluid injection nozzle and an air feeding means for feeding air to the air injection nozzle.
