PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress curling of a discharged paper by smaller energy. SOLUTION: Steam is blown to a printing surface of a coated paper 9 passed through printing. The ink remaining on the surface of the coated paper 9 is heated, whereby the viscosity of the ink is decreased. The moisture included in the ink (including a wetting agent) penetrates into the coated paper 9. A difference of moisture amounts is reduced between the printing surface and a back surface of the coated paper 9. The printing surface and the back surface are swollen to the same level by absorption of the moisture included in the ink, so that curling of the discharged paper can be suppressed. For example, in comparison with a method for drying the whole of the coated paper 9 after a curling prevention liquid is applied to the back surface of the coated paper 9, curling of the discharged paper can be suppressed by the smaller energy.
