PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a lock abnormality caused by breakage of an overhang arm provided on an upper part of a clamp rod of the clamp device, and to form the clamp device compact. SOLUTION: The overhang arm 6 is provided on an upper end part of the clamp rod 5 inserted into a housing 3 to be movable in the axial center direction. A lock chamber 21 is formed above a piston 15 that is tightly engaged with a cylinder hole 4 in the housing 3, while a release chamber 22 is formed below the piston 15. When a lock is driven, when the piston 15 goes beyond a set stroke range to go overstroke downward, the lock chamber 21 is communicated with a release charge/discharge passage 18 through a leak passage 50 comprising an engagement gap G in the piston 15 and a shallow groove.
