SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DETERMINING SENSING THRESHOLDS OF A MULTI-RESOLUTION SPECTRUM SENSING (MRSS) TECHNIQUE FOR COGNITIVE RADIO (CR) SYSTEMS

A system and a method for determining sensing thresholds of MRSS(Multi-Resolution Spectrum Sensing) technique for CR(Cognitive Radio) systems are provided to improve performance of a CR by using adaptive modulation and interference mitigation technique. A spectrum detection system includes an antenna(116) and a spectrum detection module(102). The antenna receives a portion of a radio frequency spectrum. The spectrum detection module performs the steps of: receiving a false alarm rate related to false occupancy identification of a spectrum segment; determining noise floor with a function of a noise figure and a characteristic of an MRSS window; and operating a sensing threshold based on at least a portion of the false alarm rate and the noise floor.
