<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which can be manufactured at a low cost without adding a phase compensation film and has a high contrast ratio, good viewing angle characteristics, and superior display quality. <P>SOLUTION: Each of pixels of a liquid crystal panel of an active matrix liquid crystal display device has a liquid crystal layer having a first alignment region having a first liquid crystal alignment direction and a second alignment region having a second liquid crystal alignment direction, where the first alignment direction and second alignment direction are about 180° different, and axes of transmission of two polarizers across the liquid crystal layer are orthogonal to each other and have angles of about 45° to the first and second alignment directions. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
