PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a designed image and a printed matter thereof having visible watermarks that deteriorates image quality sufficiently adequate to prevent illegal use while the watermarks do not damage the image quality needed in evaluating the design. SOLUTION: The visible watermark patterns are formed based on the image information of an entire original design picture pattern image or on the image information on specific portions of the original design image where the watermarks are to be arranged. A printed matter on which the design picture pattern image is printed with the visible watermarks, so that the watermarks give an observer an impression similar to that of the original design picture pattern image when the observer observes the image from a remote position.
