PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head end of a writing utensil which have no blemish like conventional one, and can reduce smudge by rubbing of characters or the likes printed on an applied material of any kind, and to provide the head end of a writing utensil which can realize excellent feel of writing regardless of whether the surface of a material to be coated is rough smooth. SOLUTION: A pen nib 1 of a writing utensil comprises at least a marking edge (top face) 11, wherein at least a recess is prepared in a marking edge 11, and the recess is formed by preparing two projections.
