Disclosed is a coating solution for an image-forming layer for a planographic printing material, which is used for the formation of an image-forming layer for a planographic printing plate material which comprises a hydrophilic substrate and an image-forming layer arranged on the substrate, comprising an alkali-soluble binder resin, and varying in its alkali solubility when exposed to a near-infrared laser. The coating solution is characterized by containing a hydrofluoroether compound represented by the general formula (1) as a solvent. The coating solution shows excellent coatability when used in the formation of an image-forming layer and enables to provide a planographic printing plate material having high sensitivity and excellent storage stability.
