The method involves obtaining a read/write operation unit size used in performing data operations in a data storage device (405) e.g. flash memory, and setting a file system unit of memory allocation size to a multiple of the read/write operation unit size. A unit of memory allocation starting address is set to a read/write operation unit starting address used by the data storage device, where the read/write operation unit size is determined based on identification of the data storage device.
