The method involves determining intensities of frequency-modulated partial beams. Two side bands of an acoustic-optical modulation are to be generated, which are symmetrical to a fundamental frequency of laser beam in two directions. The side bands are fed to a frequency selective absorption cell, in which the side bands absorb different intensities. An error signal is determined and corrected on the basis of a laser frequency. An independent claim is also included for a frequency stabilized laser arrangement.
