PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shoe hold-down device that can be assembled on a drum brake without standing a shoe hold-down pin upright from a backing plate by an operator. SOLUTION: An engagement member 62 for engaging with a proximal end portion 64c of the shoe hold-down pin 64 at a predetermined position of the backing plate 18 is fixed to the backing plate 18. The engagement member 62 engages with the proximal end portion 64c of the shoe hold-down pin 64 so as to restrict the shoe hold-down pin 64 from rotating about its axis and to make the shoe hold-down pin 64 independent of the backing plate 18. Therefore, differently from the prior art, it is possible to assemble the shoe hold-down brake device 54 on the drum brake 10 without standing the shoe hold-down pin 64 upright from the backing plate 18 by the operator.
