PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrical discharge machine which prevents occurrence of worsening of workpiece working precision and abnormal discharge around an electrode, works with high precision, and reduces working cost, even when using a working electrode having small diameter, or a working electrode formed by a material being softer than cemented carbide. SOLUTION: In this electrical discharge machine 100 having a holding part 10 for holding a workpiece 11 and an electrode part 20 having the working electrode 21 for discharging electricity for the workpiece 11, the electrode part 20 is provided with: an electrode holding body 22 for fixing and holding the working electrode 21 during electrical discharge; an electrode tip guide 23 positioned between the workpiece 11 and the electrode holding body 22 and letting a tip of the working electrode 21 opposing to the workpiece 11 pass through it to position the tip; and an electrode gripping hand 24 positioned between the electrode tip guide 23 and the electrode holding body 22 to grip the working electrode 21 while the fixation of the working electrode 21 by the electrode holding body 22 is released.
