<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a plastic lens by which fewer interference fringes is produced by improving the leveling property of a coating layer formed by a dipping method, and also to provide a plastic lens. <P>SOLUTION: In the method for producing a plastic lens, a hard coat layer coating liquid to be applied onto a plastic lens substrate using a dipping method comprises a coating composition containing a silicone surfactant having a viscosity at 25°C in a range of 3,000-6,000 mm<SP>2</SP>/s and using a dimethylpolysiloxane as a main skeleton, and the hard coat layer coating liquid is applied onto the plastic lens substrate in an application atmosphere at a relative humidity adjusted to 20-80%.
