PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mobile device for limiting the continuous use of the prescribed function of the mobile device before and after starting to drive a vehicle, and its control method. SOLUTION: The mobile device (cellular phone 1, for instance) includes: a detection part 8 for acquiring information relating to the driving state of the vehicle; and a control part 2 for temporarily stopping the prescribed function which is used at the point of time and for which a holder needs to hold it in a hand or gaze at a display part 5 when deciding that the vehicle is shifted from a stop state to a traveling state on the basis of the information acquired by the detection part 8, and restarting the temporarily stopped prescribed function when deciding that the vehicle is shifted again from the traveling state to the stop state or switching to a prescribed operation mode without the need of having the holder hold it in a hand or gaze at the display part 5. The prescribed function mainly relates to speech communication, input or output, and is a speech communication function, an electronic mail function, a television function or a game function, for instance.
