PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of quickly manufacturing a long-life and high-efficiency organic EL element through a fine drying process, with each pixel giving out uniform light emission without any non-emission ones or current leak, and a display device. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of the organic electroluminescent element provided with a first electrode (2), a second electrode (7) set in opposition to the first electrode (2), and organic luminescent medium layers at least containing an organic luminescent layer (6) between the first electrode (2) and the second electrode (7) dries at least one layer among the organic luminescent medium layers in a letterpress contact drying method.
