PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lead acid storage battery in which the initial battery short circuit never occurs by deformation formed at a corner part of an electrode plate using a current collector consisting of an expand grid. SOLUTION: In the lead acid storage battery constituting the current collector for a positive electrode and the current collector for a negative electrode by the expand grid having an expand processed development part 2, a lateral rib part 3 for forming an ear part composed of a non development part formed on one end side of an expanding direction of the development part 2, and the ear part 4 for current collection formed in the lateral rib part 3, out of four corners of a positive electrode plate or a negative electrode plate 6, by cutting two corner parts in the ear part 4 for current collection which are on the opposite side in a direction inclined against the longitudinal direction of the lateral rib part 3, cut parts 7a and 7b are formed.
