PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for managing an optical disk, for appropriately managing a deterioration in the optical disk. SOLUTION: The apparatus 100 for managing the optical disk measures recording quality of an optical disk to generate disk management information and measuring history information, and determines a next measuring period of recording quality based on the disk management information and the measuring history information.
