PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the time from loading of an optical disk on a loader to reproduction of data. SOLUTION: In the optical disk reproduction device, a loading mechanism 100 loads an optical disk into the optical disk reproduction device. During the loading, a system control part 17 makes an optical pickup 6 emit a laser beam 5 to the optical disk 2. The system control part 17 determines, when a reflected light from the optical disk 2 is detected first, the type of the optical disk 2 based on the light quantity of the reflected light.
