摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain satisfactory display quality of a liquid crystal display wherein a pixel electrode and a common electrode are layered via an insulating film. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display 10 includes a plurality of pixels 20. Each pixel 20 has: the pixel electrode 160 and the common electrode 140 which are provided on one substrate of a pair of substrates and layered via the insulating film; an alignment layer disposed on an liquid crystal layer side of the pixel electrode 160 and the common electrode 140; and a circuit capacitance connected to a liquid crystal capacitance via the liquid crystal layer between the pixel electrode 160 and the common electrode 140. Either one of the pixel electrode 160 and the common electrode 140 is constituted of a comb-teeth-shaped electrode having a slit part nearly parallel to a rubbing direction of the alignment layer disposed on the liquid crystal layer side. As for the circuit capacitance, capacitance values are different between the pixel 20 whose alignment layer is rubbed from an opened end side toward a closed end side of the slit part, and the pixel 20 whose alignment layer is rubbed from the closed end part toward the opened end part.
