An industrial robot (10) removes surplus material (12) at the interface seam (14) of a cast ceramic product (16) e.g. a bathroom basin, shower bath or bathtub. The excess material is removed by an oscillating tool (30) at the end of the robotic arm and powered by a motor (32). The ceramic product is held on a pedestal (18) during the operation.
