The liquid cooler has a plate-type cooling element (1,2) and a multiple of running channels are arranged parallel to each other in the cooling element for flow of cooling liquid. The former channels are arranged nearer to a surface (16) of the cooling element than the latter channels for cooling a high power component, which is arranged on the surface. The latter channels are arranged nearer to another surface (17) of the cooling element as the former channels and the latter surface lies opposite to the former surface. An independent claim is also included for method for cooling electronic high power components, particularly electronic valves or valve assemblies.
