PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting system capable of awaking a sleeper by a light stimulation by changing illumination intensity of light in the vicinity of the face of the sleeper, and of illuminating the whole of a sleeping room with illumination intensity suitable for living after the sleeper wakes up. SOLUTION: This lighting system 11 changing illumination intensity when a predetermined time before a wake-up time comes is provided with: an awaking illumination means irradiating the vicinity of the face of a sleeper 41, and carrying out awaking illumination gradually increasing its illuminating intensity from a first time before the wake-up time to the wake-up time; and an overall illumination means carrying out overall illumination of a sleeping room 31 with illumination intensity suitable for living from a second time after a certain period elapses from the wake-up time.
