PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively extend the life of closing/opening contact points in a small attachment space. SOLUTION: This electromagnetic contactor is structured such that, in turning on the electromagnetic contactor M10, sub-contact points 10 are turned on first to carry excessive start current, thereafter the current is reduced, and the sub-contact points 10 are mechanically automatically turned on immediately after main contact points 11 are turned on and stabilized. In this structure, a slide piece 14 formed by engaging a hooking part 14b with a hooked part 5c of a sub-contact point support part 5 is moved in a direction for releasing the engagement by using an oblique projection shape 1b in turning on the sub-contact points 10, the engagement is released next by further moving the slide piece 14 in the same direction immediately after the main contact points 11 are turned on and stabilized, and the sub-contact points 10 are mechanically automatically turned off.
