PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor excellent in electric properties and capable of effectively suppressing cracking and the generation of black spots attributed to the same, and an image forming apparatus equipped with such an electrophotographic photoreceptor. SOLUTION: The electrophotographic photoreceptor is obtained by disposing a photosensitive layer containing a hole transport agent, a charge generating agent and a binder resin on a substrate. The image forming apparatus uses the same. The hole transport agent is a hydrazone compound represented by formula (1) and value (I/O value) given by dividing an inorganic nature value by an organic nature value in the binder resin is set to≥0.36. In the formula (1), R<SP>1</SP>-R<SP>4</SP>are each independently a hydrogen atom, a substitutive or unsubstitutive 1-20C alkyl group or the like; Ar<SP>1</SP>is a substitutive or unsubstitutive 6-39C aryl group or the like; and a repeating number n is 0 or 1.
