PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a multi-branched polyester polyol for significantly reducing the conventional temperature for manufacturing and reducing the energy for production, and to provide a resin particle dispersion liquid, an electrostatic charge image developing toner and a method for manufacturing the toner, an electrostatic charge image developer, an image forming method and an image forming apparatus, using a multi-branched polyester polyol produced by the above method. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a multi-branched polyester polyol includes a process of at least polycondensation of a hydroxyl acid and/or its protected compound having in total three or more groups of hydroxyl groups, carboxyl groups and their protected groups by using a sulfur acid as a catalyst. A multi-branched polyester polyol manufactured by the above method is used for the resin particle dispersion liquid, the electrostatic charge image developing toner and the method for manufacturing the toner, the electrostatic charge image developer, the image forming method and the image forming apparatus.
