PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a product in a cup type wire gauze filter fitted to a molten metal pouring passage in a casting mold where the phenomenon that the gauze wires forming the same is separated by pressure under molten metal pouring, and is mixed into a casting product can be prevented. SOLUTION: The cup type wire gauze filter is fitted, in a die 30 at least provided with a cope 31 and a drag 32 and in which a pouring passage 33 for molten metal is formed to the vertical direction of the drag 32, to the upper end part of the pouring passage 33 in an erecting posture. The central part of a wire gauze original plate 2 with a square planar shape to which a plurality of gauze wires 3 with the same length are vertically crossed is pressed with a cylindrical press rod 23, so as to form a bottom plate part 11 with a planar cylindrical shape, and further, the four direction corner parts in the wire gauze original plate 2 are separated from the bottom plate part 11 toward the oblique upper outer direction, and side walls 12 each having a recessed curved shape to each upper edge 12a are erected between the adjoining four corner parts.
