<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printed matter recognition device for further precisely recognizing paper money by obtaining an input pattern extremely close to true data than a conventional manner. <P>SOLUTION: This printed matter recognition device for recognizing the type or authenticity of paper money is configured to detect the edge fold of paper money in an input pattern acquired from both the sides of paper money, and to apply predetermined working processing to at least either an input pattern or a dictionary pattern by using a geometrical fold model when the edge fold is detected, and to recognize the type of paper money by collating the input pattern with the dictionary pattern. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
