<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress heat generation of an inverter circuit when a capacitor is discharged by using a coil of an electric rotary machine. <P>SOLUTION: The power controller of the electric rotary machine includes the invertor circuit connected to the electric rotary machine, the capacitor which is connected and arranged between an electricity accumulating unit and the inverter circuit and a control part enabling that winding of the electric rotary machine is used as a discharge resistor, d-axis current is made to flow through the inverter circuit and a charge of the capacitor is discharged. A direction where d-axis current i<SB>d</SB>flows is periodically inverted by periodically and alternately implementing on/off control on an upper arm and a lower arm of the inverter circuit.
