<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device in which thickness reduction and an improvement in a reflection contrast ratio are possible in a transflective liquid crystal display device. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device of the transflective type has a first substrate, a second substrate, a liquid crystal layer held between the first substrate and the second substrate, a first polarization plate arranged on the side opposite to the liquid crystal layer of the first substrate, and a second polarization plate arranged on the side opposite to the liquid crystal layer of the second substrate, and has a reflection region and a transmission region in each of a plurality of pixels formed between the first and second substrates. A built-in phase difference plate is arranged between the second substrate and the liquid crystal layer and a visual angle compensation film is arranged between the first substrate and the first polarization plate or between the second substrate and the second polarization plate or between both thereof. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
