PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem wherein in a conventional imaging apparatus which performs manual focusing, it is difficult to decide which position of a constituting screen of an entire frame is to be confirmed of focusing, an image is displayed with a sense of incongruity because of the mixture of an enlarged display image and a surrounding overall image, and it is difficult to accurately perform focusing. SOLUTION: A pixel thinning processing unit 9 performs reduction processing on an image pickup signal with a first magnification power for displaying a single screen region of an imaging signal from a solid-state imaging element over all the screen region of a TV monitor 16 and reduces an imaging signal with a second magnification power that is 1/N times as high as the first magnification power. An enlarged display range selection processing unit 10 segments a partial image position of the imaging signal, instructed and selected by a focusing position SW 14 and generates a partially enlarged image signal by performing enlargement processing on the partial image with a third magnification power greater than the second magnification power. An entire subject image, based on the reduced imaging signal from the pixel thinning processing unit 9 and a partially enlarged image, based on the partially enlarged image signal are combined and displayed simultaneously on the TV monitor 16.
