PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for adjusting a display region in a grid-like display device to project a pertinent image on a screen even when the number of pixels in the horizontal and/or vertical directions or an aspect ratio of the screen or an input image signal of the grid-like display device in a projector is varied. SOLUTION: In the projector equipped with the grid-like display device (a liquid crystal panel etc.) and projecting the image on the screen with the grid-like display device based on the input image signal, a virtual display region on the screen is found based on the number of the pixels in the horizontal and vertical directions and the aspect ratio, a ratio of the length and the breadth dimensions, of the screen of the grid-like display device (S101-103), a real display region of the grid-like display device is found based on the aspect ratio of the input image based on the virtual display region and the input image signal (S104) and the projection of the image is carried out by utilizing the real display region (S105).
