The testing device has balls (6) running on paths (7,8) at the inner circumference of a joint socket (3) and at an outer circumference of a hinge plate (4). The balls are arranged around the hinge plate and around a bore (5) with an inner toothed rim. An annular light source (11) is provided for arrangement coaxially at the hinge of the joint socket and a light sensor (14) for insertion in the bore.
