Oven wall three-dimensional profile data (701) indicating the quantity of roughness all over the right and left oven walls (14R and 14L) of a carboni zing chamber (11) is created by using an image signal obtained by a wall-sur face observing device (200). The oven wall three-dimensional profile data (7 01) is used to determine a resistance index (k), which is determined by inde xing the resistance received by coke (15) extruded by the rising gradient of the oven walls (14). It can be confirmed that the resistance index (k) and an extrusion load are correlated. Therefore, the state of the oven walls (14 ) to exert influences on the extrusion load can be quantitatively evaluated.
