<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recording medium which is excellent in ink absorbency, can effectively prevent printing bleeding from developing and has excellent surface gloss. <P>SOLUTION: This inkjet recording medium is formed by providing an ink accepting layer and a glossy layer provided on the ink accepting layer on a base material. The glossy layer includes a pigment containing an organo-inorganic lamellar compound intercalated with at least one kind of ammonium ions selected from the group consisting of R<SP>1</SP>NH<SB>3</SB><SP>+</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>R<SP>3</SP>NH<SB>2</SB><SP>+</SP>and R<SP>4</SP>(CH<SB>3</SB>)<SB>3</SB>N<SP>+</SP>and R<SP>5</SP>R<SP>6</SP>(CH<SB>3</SB>)<SB>2</SB>N<SP>+</SP>(wherein R<SP>1</SP>represents an 8-20C saturated hydrocarbon, R<SP>2</SP>and R<SP>3</SP>respectively represent a 6-12C saturated hydrocarbon, R<SP>4</SP>represents an 8-20C saturated hydrocarbon and R<SP>5</SP>and R<SP>6</SP>respectively represent an 8-20C saturated hydrocarbon), between the lamellae of the inorganic lamellar compound and a binder.
