<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely discriminate a road side object from a vehicle such as a motorcycle in an object detection device for detecting an object around a vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: A support control ECU decides whether or not an object is a vehicle by comparing the moving speeds of objects detected by image processing based on a picked-up image by a plurality of side cameras and the difference of detection timing by a plurality of sonar, in vehicle detection processing. That is, the support control ECU compares the separately detected moving speeds of the objects to calculate the moving speed of the object with high precision, and to discriminate whether the object is the vehicle or a road side object on the basis of the moving speed of the object. Therefore, even when the shape of the road side object is similar to the shape of the vehicle, it is possible to highly precisely discriminate whether or not the object is the road side object or the vehicle without error. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
