PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an insulator that allows an armature coil to be aligned and wound therearound regardless of a wire diameter of the armature coil, and an armature having the insulator. SOLUTION: An insulator for armature-coil winding is mounted so as to cover a magnetic-pole teeth part of an armature core composed by laminating an electromagnetic steel plate. The insulator includes a coil winding part for covering the magnetic-pole teeth part, flange parts provided at both side parts of the coil winding part, and an elastic member that is arranged at the root part of at least one of the side faces, facing each other, of both flange parts located at both side parts of the coil winding part that covers the end face in the lamination direction of the magnetic-pole teeth part while having a pressing force in the direction of the side face of the opposite other flange part.
