PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an AGC (Auto Gain Control) normally function while minimizing an error rate. SOLUTION: A total gain candidate determining part 101 determines a candidate suitable as the total gain Kt in a feedback group of the AGC comprising an equalizer part 30, an AD converting part 40 and an FIR filter part 50. A gain setting part 102 sets a corresponding gain Kp in a preamplifier part 10 in each candidate for the total gain Kt, and sequentially sets a gain Ka and a gain Kf satisfying the total gain Kt in the AD converting part 40 and the FIR filter part 50. A write data storing part 103 stores known write data. An error rate calculating part 104 compares read data with the write data to calculate an error rate in the read data.
