PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the current level difference due to the difference in eccentricity between heads without influencing the seek waveform after head changeover in a head position controller by current observer control for two degree-of-freedom control. SOLUTION: The head position controller has orbit creation sections (20, 32) which calculate the initial value of the correction orbit to eliminate the current level difference between the output current supplied to an actuator (1) prior to changeover and the eccentricity correction current of the other head after the changeover and an initial speed, and a two degree-of-freedom control system (22) to which a seek orbit is inputted. The controller supplies the correction orbit complying with the initial value to the two degree-of-freedom control system (22). The initial speed and the current level difference can be corrected with one parameter and the correction waveform of the current level difference with respect to each seek current waveform is easily designed, and the seek control is achieved without causing vibrations and noises.
