<p>The inlet channel forms an annular space (32,34) surrounding a streamlined teardrop-shaped body (36). The valve mechanism (46) incorporates a mushroom shaped plate (48) which fits against the valve seat (50,52) when the valve is closed. When the valve is open, it fits on the blunt upstream end of the teardrop and fits inside a ring (54) to make a streamlined shape. The valve stem (44) slides in the teardrop and has a central radial flange (58) acting as an armature. The armature may be attracted to a first solenoid coil (60) to close the valve and to a second solenoid coil (62) to open it. Coil springs (64,66) urge the valve toward a central, half-open position.</p> |
