In a fuel cell system, a generated heat temperature is detected as state information on a fuel cell generation unit (101) of a fuel cell body (1) which generates electricity by a liquid fuel. When the generated heat temperature exceeds a pump stop set value (T3) which has been set in advance, operation of a pump (104) which supplies fuel to the fuel cell generation unit (101) is stopped and an off-timer (705) is operated. When the generated heat temperature is lowered than a preset pump operation set value, the pump (104) is operated again to resume generation by the cell generation unit (101) after waiting for the time out of the off-timer (705). Thus, it is possible to provide a fuel cell system which can effectively use fuel.
