PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator capable of improving silence, by having a machine room in a back face upper part. SOLUTION: This refrigerator 1 has the machine room 46 between an inner box 3 composed of a resin mold and an external facing member arranged outside the inner box 3 and arranging a cooling system 101 in the back face upper part of a thermal insulation box body 10 filled with a foaming thermal insulation material 5. A thermal insulation wall 46a around the machine room 46 is provided with a shielding member 161 including the external facing member composed of a machine room box 8, the foaming thermal insulation material 5 and the inner box 3 and surrounding the machine room 46, and is formed larger in surface density of the shielding member 161 than surface density M of the total of the machine room box 8, the foaming thermal insulation material 5 and the inner box 3.
