PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent flashback in a low heat state, and to jet air-fuel mixture from a burner port in an on-target direction, in a burner for a cooking stove provided with: a cylindrical body 62 made of sheet metal on an outer periphery of a burner head 6; and a number of slit-shaped burner ports 64 long in the vertical direction and formed at intervals in the circumferential direction. SOLUTION: The burner head 6 is composed of the cylindrical body 62 made of sheet metal, and a head main body 61 made of a casting or a forging of metal. The head main body 61 has a peripheral wall portion 61c thicker than the cylindrical body 62 along an inner peripheral face of the cylindrical body 62. A plurality of air-fuel mixture passages 63 are radially formed on the peripheral wall portion 61c to guide the air-fuel mixture supplied to an internal space of the burner head to the cylindrical body 62. The plurality of slit-shaped burner ports 64 are formed on the cylindrical body 62 in a state of being positioned within a width in the circumferential direction of each of the air-fuel mixture passages 63.
