PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To securely set a desired swing of a needle bar 31 to which a sewing needle 30 is attached. SOLUTION: The sewing machine has a rack part 17 provided at swing adjusting lever 15, and a sensor 23 for detecting the position of the swing adjusting lever 19 by a pinion 23a engaged with the rack part 17. A position detection signal from the sensor 23 is input in a control circuit A1, and the control circuit A1 outputs an input signal and the amount of turning of a motor 35 corresponding to the shape of a cam 41 to turn the motor 35. The cam 41 attached to the motor 35, and a pair of movable stopper members 43 and 45 to energize the cam 41 with a spring 53 are provided to face a needle bar guide member 29.
