PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spinning reel for fishing, which can efficiently transmit a return force by the rotation operation of a handle to a switching lever, and can reduce the size of the reel body. SOLUTION: This spinning reel for fishing includes a spool 3 for winding up a line, a rotor 2 which is rotatable via a pinion gear 9 engaged with a driving gear 7 rotated by the winding operation of a handle 5 and is used for guiding and winding up the line on the spool 3 via a line-guiding portion; a switching mechanism 30 having an operation member 31 capable of switching into a control state for controlling the rotation of the spool 3 or into a free state for freeing the spool, and a returning mechanism 60 for returning the switching mechanism 30 of the spool-free state to a control state by the winding operation of the handle 5.
