<p>This invention provides a component for a constant velocity universal joint, which can realize an enhancement in strength without a significant change in process and can contribute to a size reduction and a weight reduction, and a method for manufacturing the same. In the manufacture of the component for a constant velocity universal joint, after cold plastic working, machining is carried out to form an acute angle part (15). Thereafter, carburizing treatment is carried out to a surface carbon concentration of less than 0.45% by mass to 0.60% by mass followed by quenching.
