PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology of selecting a teaching file adapting to each specimen from a plurality of stored teaching files by image processing. SOLUTION: The image measuring instrument has a measuring device 10 for obtaining an image of the specimen, and an information processor 20 for processing the acquired image. The information processor 20 comprises a means 31 for acquiring information showing the feature of the specimen and registering the feature of the specimen to be registered, a means 32 for registering information showing a measurement procedure of the specimen, a corresponding means 33 for matching and registering the information showing the registered feature of the specimen and the information showing the registered measurement procedure, a means 34 for acquiring information showing the feature of the specimen to be measured, retrieving approximate information from the information showing the registered feature, and selecting information showing a corresponding measurement procedure, and a means 38 for commanding the measuring device to acquire an image based on the information showing the selected measurement procedure.
