The method involves inserting a stamping ring into the larger bore with a first part already inserted in a first bore. A lower ring surface is compressed by a stamp until the defined distance is achieved between the lower surface and first part. The stamp has a longitudinal bore into which a feeler is inserted to contact the first part. The stamping process is ended on achieving a reference dimension formed between marks on the tool and feeler. The method involves inserting a stamping ring into the second larger bore with a first part already inserted in the first bore, whereby a lower surface of the ring is compressed by a stamp (4) until the defined distance is achieved between the lower ring surface and the first part. The stamp has a longitudinal bore (18) into which a feeler (5) is inserted until it contacts the first part. A reference dimension for the defined distance is formed between marks on the tool and feeler. The stamping process is ended on achieving the reference dimension.
