PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a curable resin composition for a columnar spacer capable of effectively suppressing generation of color unevenness due to defective gravity without generating low temperature foaming when the curable resin composition is used for the columnar spacer used for manufacturing a liquid crystal display element. SOLUTION: In the curable resin composition for the columnar spacer used for manufacturing the columnar spacer of the liquid crystal display element, having an alkali soluble (meth)acrylic copolymer having a reactive functional group, a polymerizable compound having an ethylenic unsaturated bond and a photoreactive initiator, the (meth)acrylic copolymer having the reactive functional group has a structural unit of a specified alkenyl or epoxy alkyl (meth)acrylate.
