PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus for preventing lowering or effectively reducing deterioration of image quality due to color registration shift. SOLUTION: An entire length is an interval or more of a photoreceptor drum composing each image forming unit, and elasticity along a longitudinal direction buries a smaller fiber material 68 than an elastic layer 64 of an intermediate transfer belt 12 in the elastic layer 64. The fiber material 68 is along the longitudinal direction of the intermediate transfer belt 12 in the longitudinal direction and arranged in zigzag in width and thickness directions of the intermediate transfer belt 12. When one end side of the fiber material 68 comes to one of the photoreceptor drums of the adjacent image forming units, the other end of the fiber material 68 comes to one of the other photoreceptor drums. Thus, even when shift occurs in a rotation frequency of both the photoreceptor drums, the elastic layer 64 is supported on the fiber material 68, and elastic deformation is prevented or suppressed along the longitudinal direction of the intermediate transfer belt 12.
