PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of fast processing without contamination in a primary apparatus body by preventing toner from leaking from a cleaner housing by forcibly moving toner cloud in timing where a cleaner blade and a seal leave a carrier surface. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus which transfers a toner image formed on a photoreceptor drum surface with toner having a minus potential to a recording paper through an intermediate transfer belt supplying a plus voltage and scrapes, remove, and scrapes off remaining toner by making the cleaner blade and a seal member contact and leave the intermediate transfer belt surface is characterized in that an electric field for attracting toner suspended on the belt surface side is produced by applying a minus voltage to a seal support member when the seal member leaves the belt surface and the cleaner blade is separated from the belt surface after an upstream side of a non-image region on the belt surface opposed to the leaving seal member passes the scraping position.
